On Wednesday night (26), a Latam passenger opened the emergency door and activated the plane’s inflatable slide just before taking off at São Paulo International Airport in Brazil.

A video recorded at São Paulo International Airport in Brazil showed an Airbus A321neo with the emergency slide inflated, after a Latam passenger activated it while trying to open the door.

The flight, which was scheduled to take off at 11:45 PM, departed at 3:41 AM due to the incident. There is still no official explanation as to why the Latam passenger activated the slide.

Unofficial information suggests that the towing vehicle was moving the plane away from the jet bridge when the man opened the door.

The airline regretted the incident and stated that it had to remove the passenger from the aircraft.

“Latam Brazil informs that it requested the support of the Federal Police before the departure of flight LA3180 on Tuesday (25) to carry out the disembarkation of a passenger due to inappropriate behavior,” Latam reported.
